BE CONFIDENT, STAY ALERT & TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS

Attract Attention
Yell ‘FIRE’ to attract people to scare off attackers

Make Eye Contact
It’s important to be able to identify anyone who attacks you, look but do not stare at the person
Run Away
Because bashers usually travel in packs and are particularly violent, your best defence is to try and get away
Use Your Judgement
Every situation is unique and each person’s skills are different, let your judgement be your guide
Tell the Police
Report violence to the Police, even if you cannot identify the attackers.
How to Make a Police Report

Seek Medical Attention
Attend the hospital or your local doctor the next day to report any bruising or injuries. The Medical staff will keep a health record of the attack.

The Queensland Police would like people (onlookers or the victim) to sent more information about offenders' descriptions, such as their registration number, model of car, time of the event, the location or/and the personal features of the offender.

For example, the picture below has been seen in a New Farm shopping centre. The person who owns this vehicle is breaking the law of vilification. Please let us not allow this silence hate crime exist in our community. If you do see this vehicle in a public space like a shopping centre, please send a photo (mobilephone), time, date, registration number and location to LGBTI.BCD@police.qld.gov.au or email it to walksafe and complete an online report, then Walksafe will forward this onto the Queensland Police.
